ACTIVITIES

 

We invite you to come and discover the mountain region of Fyresdal Telemark in Southern Norway, a wilderness area with stunning views of this beautiful and awesome landscape. Accessible by Sea/Air from the EU/EEA.

 

Special undisturbed solitude, perfect for an escape to real nature and an inspirational holiday to invigorate and revitalise the soul!

 

It’s an ideal destination for peaceful relaxation and adrenaline adventure. Unwind and have some fun.

 

Romantic walks and lazy relaxation.

 

Back - to - nature camping - in the Norwegian Lavvo Telt (Tipi Tent) on the secluded private camping area beside the lake. Cook food on an open fire in the Barbecue area. (A Sack of Firewood/Charcoal and suitable cooking utensils are available)

 

Worldwide Touring Motorcycle visitors are welcome here. The highways of Norway are a pleasure to ride on whilst soaking up the passing scenic views.

 

There is an area to play badminton and beside the lodge a safe area for young children. Selection of board games such as Jigsaw, Chess, Scrabble and Wooden Blocks. Try the Spruce Hot Tub that seats eight friends in 38C fresh spring water and is heated with a real fire. Roll around in the snow and then get back in again - ideal for deep - cleansing the skin!

 

Explore off the beaten track... Follow the marked Moose Trail Hike to Mosnapptoppen, the centuries-old hand-dug copper mine 1000m up on the top of the Granite mountainside behind the lodge. (Guide available) There are abundant Rock-Climbing routes in the area!

 

In the mystical forests, listen to the sound of the trees blowing in the fresh breeze and the tinkling of traditional mountain goat bells. Blackbirds and Cuckoos singing.

 

Try wild-life watching...Eagles gliding high above in the deep blue sky. Beavers making dams. Red squirrels hopping around the tree branches. Deer and Moose wandering morning/evening through the organic meadows down to the lake for a drink.

 

Cast your line along the 600m lake shoreline belonging to Ystesund and catch numerous Brown Trout from Sundsvatn. (Rods and Nets are available) Two-person canoes (Including Orange Life Vests) are available for fishing and exploring along the vast lake. Take to the water for a stimulating swim. Walk across the Flotningsdam at the east side of Sundsvatn. It is a Historic Stone Dam that was used for floating tree lengths to Veum Sawmill. (Sagbruk)

 

Some all - purpose bicycles (With helmets) are available for discovering the local area.

 

 Try genuine Nordic Pole Walking, a fitness exercise in varied terrain. Cross Country Ski straight from the lodge in the snow season. The Norwegian Spark/Kick Sleds we have are a traditional wintertime substitute for a bicycle and are highly entertaining on the frozen tracks. Have fun plodding across the fields and frozen lake in Snow - Shoes.

 

In the Autumn a traditional Elg Jakt (Moose Hunt) is held by the local authorized cooperative. This is to provide a much needed source of fresh meat for wintertime, maintain a healthy herd of wild moose and protect the forest areas.

 

Pick wild Blue/Cloud/Cran/Juniper berries. (Make fresh juice. Cook them with the Brown Trout. Eat with ice - cream.) Wild mushrooms grow in abundance.

 

Horse - drawn vehicle rides with a Clydesdale are planned in 2008.

The area provides numerous opportunities for Artists, Ecologists, Botanists, Geologists and Naturalists.

 

 Local crafts persons sell traditional authentic products, providing something unique to take back home.

ACCOMMODATION

  

We are open through all the seasons. Large traditional fully - furnished mountain lodge, 368 m², can accommodate up to 8 overnight visitors.

  

Four bedrooms with comfortable local - made Pine beds with bedding and towels provided. There are views from the bedrooms to appreciate sunrises/sunsets.

  

There is a Combined Toilet/Shower Room. Laundry Room with washing machine, iron with board, large sink and drying racks. Spacious solid wood fitted kitchen with electric cooker, larder fridge, dish-washer and large modern freezer.

 

In the large lounge area with an open fireplace (seasoned logs available) are movable armchairs and a sofa which converts into a double bed for persons that are unable to use the staircase. Enjoy a selection of music CD’s/ Stereo Radio. In the separate dining area is a large round wooden table that seats 8. Dimmable lighting throughout the building to suit different moods.

 

The Earthen-tiled ground area is cool in the summertime and heated in the wintertime. This is suitable for the less-able including wheelchairs. Outside the area close to the lodge entrance is level for vehicle parking and with easy access into the building from the wooden verandahs with views of the lake. 8-Seat wooden round picnic table.

 

The tasty refreshing water-supply comes from our own spring bore - hole 100m down in the Granite.

 

 A basket of locally produced Norwegian food and drink is available.

  

For Health and Safety the Lodge is fully cleaned and maintained between bookings.
